At the end of June, a group from Ireland came to the Sophie Barat Center for a spiritual, cultural, and fraternal immersion in the footsteps of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat. This stay had a profound impact on the participants, who were touched by the presence of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart and by the unique atmosphere of the birthplace of the foundress. Here is Maebh’s testimony:
“The Joigny experience” went very well for our 2025 group. We were welcomed with great kindness and understanding throughout our stay. We were deeply touched by the influence of Saint Madeleine Sophie, transmitted through the lives of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart. A real sense of unity emerged among us. We feel very privileged to have been accompanied by wonderful sisters and by Mary Frances, who guided us in deepening our understanding of Madeleine Sophie’s spiritual legacy. We had the opportunity to meditate on the letter from the Superior General for the Feast of the Sacred Heart. The organization of the trip was impeccable: everything went perfectly, and everyone was in good spirits. A visit to the local market was, of course, a must! We enjoyed delicious food, with many products from the enclosed vegetable garden, carefully tended by Sister Agnieszka. The group also distinguished itself by its exemplary punctuality! Yes, this stay in Joigny was truly special. A unique moment that we will always remember, together.
